It is our fight first

The evolving culture of the West must face 21st century terrorism. Significant brain power has been attracted to striking against Western targets. When airliners reduced the twin towers to blocks of rubble in 2001, those who plot from the shadows gained the admiration of warped geniuses worldwide.

When Adolph Hitler and his A Team of evil changed world warfare, the concept of armies remained in play. The speed of battle jumped. Battle lines grew fluid and fortresses less important than communications and radar facilities. The country that could keep putting firepower into the field won. The more advanced the tech, the better.

From this epic war, a new industry sprang to life, the Defense Industry. In the shadow of the mushroom cloud, the United States built satellite networks, fleets, various explosives, and tactics to maximize their use. The rest of the Western world bought into this victorious thinking. Four stolen jetliners tore all that down.

IEDs and AK-47s are the new weapons. Targets are found in any large city, police and special forces territory. Iraq and Afghanistan turned out to be training and recruiting opportunities for various organizations of evil. So many directions exist for success, proaction seems impossible. Many Western leaders have declared war on terror. In my childhood such a war was deemed as giving the terrorists too much attention. Spotlighting terrorists was seen as giving them credence.

The explosions of television and the internet have taken the control of the spotlights to anyone. In fact this may be the main reason for the amplification of terrorist acts. Promo videos stream to uncritical senses. Networks share tips and encouragement for any cause.

Others have urged the West to pour money into the impoverished breeding grounds of the terrorists. Bring soccer and schools, food and funds to dry up the evil at its source. Instead Western governments money has spread corruption.

So far all I have proven is that I have a talent for stating the obvious. How might terrorism be stopped? Terrorism is a heart condition. Those at the top have become so woven through with hate, they have nothing else to offer their followers. From Boka Haram to Al Qeida and ISIS the seething power of hate wins the day. Hate and evil can only ultimately be defeated by love and goodness, something we have in short supply. I would love to see missionaries sent in high numbers into the Middle East and North Africa. The love and forgiveness of Christ, not our military might will deliver all but the most corrupted leaders from the power of evil.

We in the west need to pray and support our Christian brothers and sisters living I these lands and pour support to and through them. The love of Christ can break through the lies of those in power. We who are spiritual need to take up the cause against terror. It is our fight first.
